The Purchasers

Played on a lovely day, everyone turned up in good order and we were honoured to welcome both the present

and past chairmen of the Martlets, Stuart Ritchie and Nigel Russell.

 It was nice to see Brian O’Gorman without his pads on, playing with the Chairman and just being beaten by one hole.

Good too to welcome John Nixon who was up very early in the morning to travel from Suffolk to be with us, and to halve his match playing with Peter Ross (Piltdown edition) who had just flown in from Menorca.

Substantial wins were achieved by Chris Gray and Brian Ellis, and too by our Golfing Society secretary Adrian White, playing with Purchaser import Peter Brotherton who we were delighted to welcome to the Martlet ranks for the day.

Good to see Adrian Ford on the course who, with your correspondent edged a win over Nigel Russell and Peter Ludgate.

Overall the Martlets won the day by 3 1/2 to 1 1/2.

 There was general agreement about the excellent state of the course, a very good lunch was enjoyed by all and the day voted great fun.  30th June has been booked for 2017, so an early date for your diary.
