Downside Wanderers won the toss and asked the Martlets to bat. Michael Murray, opening the batting, made 80. Jamie Parker made an unbeaten 74 from just 43 balls, including six fours and five sixes. The partnership between Murray and Parker was 84 runs in 13 overs, rescuing the Martlets from a precarious 118 for 6 after 33 overs. When Murray was out, Parker, together with useful contributions from Tunley-Ley and Liebers added a further 33 runs which allowed skipper Craig Talbot to offer a fair declaration.

For Downside Wanderers, openers W Kirkpatrick (22) and W Church (32) put on 69 for first wicket, but despite useful innings from H Monro (20) and B Parks (19) the innings subsided to 160 for 9 before D Walker (37) and O Thickness (23) put together a last-wicket stand of 56. For the Martlets, W Tunley-Ley took 3-27, D Smith took 2-38 and Murray finished with 2-3.
