Under threatening skies, the Martlets won the toss and elected to bat. Adam Davies and George Martin opened strongly until Adam upper cut to into point’s hands the pair having rattled on the score, averaging 8 runs an over. Philip Roper and George continued the punishing regime when, after only 14 overs, the heavens opened with the Martlets score at 101-1. Despite an early lunch and waves of positive thinking (I’m sure it’s brightening up…!) drizzle returned after some respite and it was decided to abandon the game for the delights of the Griffin Inn. The Martlets side was Adam and Charles Davies, Robin Frean, Derek Horsham, George Martin, Mike Murray (Capt), Jason Oates, Stuart Ritchie, Phil Roper, Will Rydon and Richard Seager.
