After heavy overnight rain, the match was played in glorious sunshine. Martlets won the toss and elected to field. Eastbourne batted sensibly on a rain affected pitch against tight bowling from the Fleming brothers, Josh, 6 – 1 – 12 – 0 and George, 10 – 2 – 30 – 0. Eastbourne then began to dominate until the introduction of seamer Luke Tompsett who took 4 – 46. Eastbourne declard at 227 – 4.
Martlets were indebted to a fine partnership between George Fleming, 61and Luke Tompsett, 61. Other useful runs came from Australian Sam Adams, 35 and Gareth Challen, 26 as the Martlets fel just 9 runs short.
