Match Report
| We were all in for a treat on this sunny 5th of June at Hayling Golf Club just across Langstone Harbour from where the 80th D-Day remembrance events were taking place in Portsmouth and Southsea.
This was the first time a fixture between the Martlets and the Hog’s has been played at Hayling Golf Club and we hope it will become a regular venue for when the Martlets travel to Hampshire for this fixture. After a nice lunch of Ham Egg and Chips washed down with a few glasses of local brew. We ventured out on to the Hayling Links, which was in superb condition, with a tricky 2-club westerly breeze to make it interesting. The Hog’s had invited a Lady to join their team for the day, this was the first time in recent time we can remember a Lady golfer participating in a Martlets match for the opposition, which was good to see. The Martlets were delighted to have Kerry McLean play his first match for the Martlets, we hope to see you in many more matches in the future. The Martlets had assembled a strong team for this match and so it proved to be the case with the Martlets running out winners 3 ½ to 1 ½ My thanks go to the Hog’s for arranging such an excellent venue for this match and to the Martlets for a sterling effort to bring home a win on a very pleasant day.
