Sussex Martlets 266 – 9, Michael Murray 93, Abeed Janmohammed 70

On a lovely warm morning at Arundel Castle the Martlets lost the toss and were asked to bowl at the MCC. The pitch was as flat as can be remembered and the MCC’s 277-3, including two centurions, from 52 overs showed that a run chase was possible. The MCC manager, Matt Banes, gave a very generous declaration of 3pm and the MCC bowled 58 overs back at the Martlets. Mike Murray scored 93 and Abeed Janmohammed 70 whilst the rest gave their all in the chase against a good MCC bowling line up. The game could have gone either way in the last hour and eventually it was taken to the last ball with the Martlets finishing 266-9. The last 10 overs was very exciting but the MCC held firm with Tim Van Noort and Min Patel the pick of the bowlers. Thanks to all who played, umpired, scored and supported the match.
