Royal Ashdown Forest GC

As usual in April the Martlets were the visitors to Royal Ashdown for the annual foursomes match against the Club. The weather was kind and the course in good shape despite the greens being dry and in need of growth.

Not unusually it was a closely fought match ending up as an honourable half; at lunch the Martlets had led 3.5 to 2.5 but the Club reversed that position in the afternoon. Most would say this was a very creditable result for the Martlets as the Club, with home advantage, clearly has the whip hand. After two rounds on the Old course it can safely be said that the Martlets went home feeling they had had more than their full quota of exercise but pleased with their efforts. It was a very enjoyable day’s golf.
