Match Report
| A team of 12 Sussex Martlet golfers turned up to play at Royal Ashdown in distinctly spring like weather which made a pleasant change from last years wash out.
The course was in excellent condition with the greens running fast and true. Plaudits go to the Marks (Bowden and Stevenson) who won their match as did Stuart Richie and Dan Jackson while the top pair of Guy Baxter and Simon Baillie-Hamilton halved. Sadly the other three matches, despite featuring two Royal Ashdown members who were playing for the Martlets, were unable to notch up a point so the Martlets lost narrowly by 3.5 to 2.5. Drinks and an excellent three course lunch followed at which Robert Reed was presented with his ‘richly deserved’ Martlet Golfer of the Year Trophy which he had been unable to collect in person at Arundel.
