St. Bede’s 243 for 8 Declared – Jools Barr 3 for 43, Robin Frean 3 for 64
Sussex Martlets 94 all out
Played on a dull and overcast day a highly competitive and competent St.Bede’s dominated the majority of the match. At 62 for no wicket the school were in a very strong position but the Martlets fought back and at lunch the school were 78 for 3 and at 179 for 7 a score below 200 was on the cards. Sadly this was not the case and the school finished on 243 for 8.
The school opened with their 2 West Indians, one reputedly bowling at over 80mph! Although a score of 94 was very disappointing the Martlets were only 3 overs from achieving a draw. Luke Wells with his spin was the pick of the St.Bede’s bowlers taking 6 for 33. Was this a case of relaxing when not facing the pace attack?
