Stragglers of Asia 222 – 6  Musgrave 95, Paddy Savage 63

Sam Carter won the toss and batted on a glorious day. Marcus Campopiano batted with great timing and ease for 77 and was well supported by the remainder of the cast, including a last minute guest, Charlie Dowdall who scored a rapid 55. The Stragglers’ bowling was not hugely strong and the batters made the most of their opportunities on a good wicket; Sam declared at 248-6 after 51 overs. The Martlets had a strong bowling line up including James Newland, Josh Burrows and Charles Davies in the seam department with Derek Horsham and Henry Cope providing cutters and spin; having had them 19-3, we were optimistic! However an excellent mid order partnership of 138 between their captain, Paddy Savage (63) and Musgrave (95) saw the Stragglers into safe waters but without ever seriously threatening our total and after 46 overs, the match closed with them on 222–6.
