I can report an outstanding victory in our long awaited return to the County Ground yesterday! Against a Club & Ground side with 2 current pros (Liddle and Wiemars), 2 past pros (Greenfield and Davies) and the remainder coming from the Academy, Mark Tomsett’s Martlets performed brilliantly. Set 213 in a 40 over game, Mark Trubshaw’s booming 6 gave us victory with 3 balls to go. In the middle overs we were struggling a bit needing to score at 8 an over but we had wickets in hand thanks to a good solid batting performance all the way through (Murray 52, Tomsett 37, Wells 20, Carter 25 –ish!) and then to seal a famous victory Adam Davies scored a classy and exciting 37* including 17 off one over which swung the balance firmly in our favour.
Not only a fantastic game of cricket but an important marker for our future and our County wide reputation – well done Mark!
