Sunday August 21 – Sandy Ross T20 Cup

This year’s tournament involving the Cryptics, Free Forresters, Haileybury Hermits and the Sussex Martlets saw the Hermits deserved winners in what turned out to be a one-sided final. The morning games resulted in wins for the Forresters against the Martlets and a very close encounter between the Crytics and the Hermits with the latter getting home by 9 runs. In the plate final the Cryptics amassed a very useful 197-4 in their 20 overs. The Martlets following their indifferent performance in the morning threw caution to the wind and gave it a go eventually scoring 181-6 with Ed McGregor 70 and Mike Murray 51 leading the way. In the final the Free Forresters could only manage 129 which proved many too few as the Hermits cruised to a 7 wicket win in only just over 12 overs, Nick Walker 73* in just 33 balls and Tom Stewart 47* . The weather came up trumps this year and it was nice to have Di Ross on hand to present the cup to the Hermits captain.
