A truly splendid game of cricket. Despite black clouds passing close by we only lost 10 minutes cricket in the morning.
Martlets lost the toss and were inserted. Andrew Hartridge and Adam Davies put on a magnificent opening partnership of 228 before both retired at lunch, Hartridge 103 and Davies 125. Mike Murray then made 42 and Martets declared on 316 from 40 overs.
In the field the Martlets excelled with record breaking fielding. Nine catches were offered with nine taken! Richard Seager held two blinding catches in the slips and Rob Cowdrey and Adam Davies (wicketkeeper) took two apiece. Mike Murray topped the bowling with 5 wickets for 20 runs.
This Martlet XI did great justice to the Club with a highly professional performance and very high standard of cricket. The camaraderie and quality shown made a big impression on our opponents who thoroughly enjoyed the day.
